Schenley Park

City park areas are generally open 6:00 a.m. to sunset when unlighted and until 11:00 p.m. where lighted. Phipps, the pool and golf course use separate schedules.

Parking is distributed among Schenley Plaza meters, Panther Hollow and Overlook drives, facility lots and Oakland streets. Route to the exact destination; university events change availability.

Use Schenley Plaza for Phipps and the north end, Overlook Drive for the Oval and pool, or Panther Hollow Road for the lake and lower trails.

Dependable restrooms are inside Phipps and staffed recreation facilities during their hours; trail areas do not guarantee one.

Grounds, trails, plaza and overlooks are free. Phipps, golf, pool, rentals, food and events may cost separately.

The plaza and many facility approaches are paved, but the park is steep and wooded trails and Panther Hollow are uneven.

Leashed dogs are welcome outdoors but not in Phipps, pools, playground equipment or posted facilities.

The plaza, Phipps, pool, Oval and slopes offer varied family stops, but choose one destination before arrival.

Frequent buses serve Oakland and Schenley Plaza; lower areas require a downhill walk and uphill return.

Do not use one generic park pin. Pick Phipps, the plaza, Flagstaff Hill, Panther Hollow or the Oval first.

Check Pittsburgh weather, air quality, river levels and operator alerts. Steep trails, pools, spray parks, fountains, docks and events can close independently.
