Smith Memorial Playground and Playhouse

Navigate to 3500 Reservoir Drive in East Fairmount Park. Smith is about one-third mile inside the park from the 33rd Street and Oxford Street transit approach.

A free lot sits in front of the Playhouse. When it fills, the operator allows parking along Reservoir Drive; remove valuables and obey all posted restrictions.

April-September: Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 10 a.m.-7 p.m. October-March: Tuesday-Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Closed Mondays; weather may close all or part, and the Playhouse closes one hour before the Playground in spring and summer.

Restrooms are available as part of the staffed Playground and Playhouse visit. Do not rely on them before opening, after closing or during a weather closure.

Daily family visits are free. Advance reservations and fees apply to groups of more than 10 children, and rentals or special events are separate.

Smith describes inclusive indoor and outdoor play, but equipment and terrain vary by age and ability. Contact staff before visiting for a specific mobility, sensory or accommodation need.

Animals are not permitted at Smith. ADA-defined service animals are welcome.

Smith is designed especially for children age 10 and under. Children must remain with an adult, use age-appropriate equipment and stay within sight of their caregiver.

Hours are weather permitting, the Playhouse can close before the outdoor playground, and food options nearby are limited. Bring food if needed, but grilling and barbecuing are prohibited.

SEPTA buses serve multiple park edges, and seasonal PHLASH routes connect several attractions. Select the stop nearest the destination because crossing the park from the wrong side can add steep grades and a long walk.
