Navigate to 640 Waterworks Drive below the art museum. The entrance is at river level beside the Schuylkill, not at the Rocky Steps or the upper museum plaza.

The operator lists free two-hour parking along Waterworks Drive. Spaces and vehicle access can change for events, flooding and road closures, so use SEPTA, PHLASH or a backup garage when the riverfront is busy.

The interpretive center is open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Outdoor riverfront paths may be accessible more broadly, but exhibits, restrooms and staff follow building hours.

Use visitor facilities during interpretive-center hours. Do not assume the building is open on Sunday through Tuesday or after 5 p.m. simply because the river path is accessible.

General admission is free and donations are welcome. Groups of 10 or more must schedule in advance, with recommended group and tour donations published by the operator.

The operator currently reports no elevator access because of Hurricane Ida flood damage. Contact Water Works before a visit requiring elevator service or a specific exhibit route.

Pets are not a normal fit inside the interpretive center. Leashed dogs may use ordinary outdoor park paths where posted; confirm service-animal access with the operator.

The turbine, watershed exhibits, short film and river setting can make a strong free family stop. Confirm the Wednesday-Saturday schedule and elevator limitation before arriving with a stroller or mobility need.

Separate the free exhibits from the outdoor riverfront. Building access is limited to Wednesday-Saturday, and the elevator remains unavailable; flooding or city events can also affect Waterworks Drive.

SEPTA buses serve multiple park edges, and seasonal PHLASH routes connect several attractions. Select the stop nearest the destination because crossing the park from the wrong side can add steep grades and a long walk.
