Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium

Use 7370 Baker Street for the main visitor parking lot and entrance. The zoo occupies Highland Park's north side but is not reached through the Entry Garden or reservoir loop, and its campus is a substantial uphill walking experience.

The zoo's main parking lot at 7370 Baker Street is free. Follow zoo signs rather than the broad Highland Park pin, arrive early on busy days and leave pets at home because personal animals are prohibited even in the parking area.

From April 1 through October 31, the zoo opens at 9:30 a.m., entrance gates close at 4:30 p.m. and the park closes at 5:30 p.m.; members may enter at 9:00 a.m. Buildings close 15 to 30 minutes before the grounds, and seasonal or event schedules can differ.

Restrooms are available inside the zoo during admission hours, with changing stations in all restrooms and an adult changing table documented in Safari Plaza. Do not rely on zoo facilities before entry or after closing.

The zoo is ticketed. May 22 through September 30 online pricing is currently $30 adult, $25 child ages 2-13 and $28 senior, with gate purchases $2 higher; children under 24 months are free. Prices and discount programs are time-sensitive, so verify before purchase.

The zoo documents ADA facilities, wheelchair, stroller and mobility-scooter rentals, sensory bags and maps, caregiver-ticket support and accessible restrooms. Its tram is unavailable in 2026 during Giraffe Care Center construction, so plan for the hilly campus.

Personal animals and emotional-support animals are prohibited throughout the zoo, including the parking lot. ADA-defined service animals are allowed under the zoo's separate safety and animal-area policy.

Allow several hours, wear walking shoes and plan hills, weather and early building closures. Outside bagged lunches are permitted under current rules, and a receipt is required for same-day re-entry.

Giraffe Care Center construction is changing internal routes through spring 2027, and the zoo tram is unavailable in 2026. Check the operations page before leaving; exhibits or animals can close, and rain does not automatically trigger a refund while the zoo remains open.

Pittsburgh Regional Transit serves Highland Avenue and the zoo area, but stops are not interchangeable across this large hillside park. Plan the final walking grade to the garden, reservoir, pool or Baker Street zoo entrance before choosing a route.
