Highland Park Entry Garden

The garden and fountain sit just inside the Highland Avenue entrance, below the reservoir. Use the exact fountain pin rather than the general park, zoo or pool address; the reservoir loop is farther uphill beyond the formal garden.

Use legal curb spaces around Highland Avenue and Reservoir Drive, obeying posted limits and event controls. There is no large dedicated fountain lot, and summer concerts or movies can make the closest spaces scarce.

Use the outdoor garden during posted City park hours, preferably in daylight. The fountain's water operation, landscaping work, winter conditions and permitted events can change independently of access to the surrounding paths.

The City does not document an always-open restroom at the entry garden. Use a confirmed staffed recreation facility before arriving; do not rely on the seasonal pool or ticketed zoo for casual restroom access.

The entry garden, fountain views and public paths are free. Parking restrictions, reserved events, nearby food and separately operated facilities can create costs.

The garden has paved approaches and level viewing areas around the fountain, but the route toward Reservoir Drive climbs. Construction, snow, temporary event equipment and fountain spray can affect surfaces.

Leashed dogs may use ordinary outdoor park paths under City rules. Keep animals out of the fountain, reflecting pools, garden beds and any posted event zone, and clean up waste.

The fountain and formal garden make a short, visually clear family stop before a reservoir walk. The water is ornamental rather than a splash pad, and children need supervision beside pools, traffic and the uphill roadway.

Do not plan to wade or play in the fountain or reflecting pools. Check the City event calendar when visiting on a summer Sunday or movie night because Reservoir Drive traffic and parking can change.

Pittsburgh Regional Transit serves Highland Avenue and the zoo area, but stops are not interchangeable across this large hillside park. Plan the final walking grade to the garden, reservoir, pool or Baker Street zoo entrance before choosing a route.
