Meadow Lake and FDR Park Boathouse

Use the boathouse and Meadow Lake pin inside the park loop, not the Broad Street gateway. The lake system is extensive, so decide whether the boathouse, a fishing program or a short shoreline walk is the actual destination.

Use a legal lot on the park loop nearest the boathouse. Parking is normally free, but Eagles games can trigger paid overflow parking and events, flooding or construction can change the approach.

Vehicle gates are open 6 a.m.-9 p.m. April-October and 6 a.m.-6 p.m. November-March. Fishing and boating programs keep published event times, and shoreline access may close after storms or during work.

The closest dependable permanent facility is outside the Welcome Center at 1800 Pattison Avenue; confirm its access before moving around the lake. The boathouse pavilion should not be assumed to provide an open public restroom.

Lake-edge walking and ordinary legal fishing access are free. Programs, permits, equipment or special events may use separate registration, although current community fishing and boating days advertise equipment at no cost.

The 2026 City picnic application says the FDR Boathouse Pavilion is not ADA compliant. Shoreline grades, older paving, mud and detours vary, so confirm the exact program meeting point and route before a mobility-dependent visit.

Leashed dogs may use general park paths but should remain out of the water, habitat restoration areas and program equipment. Keep the leash short around anglers and narrow shoreline sections.

A short lake walk or staffed family fishing program can work well, but this is open water with no swimming and no continuous barrier. Bring sun protection and supervise at every shoreline edge.

Swimming is prohibited. Check flooding and construction, do not launch or borrow equipment outside an authorized program, and leave enough time to exit before the seasonal vehicle gate closes.

NRG Station on SEPTA's Broad Street Line is just outside the northeast side, and Route 17 also serves Pattison Avenue. Stadium and major 2026 events can alter pedestrian routes, train service, traffic and rideshare zones.
