Albert M. Greenfield Lawn and Wintergarden

The lawn sits immediately north of the fountain on City Hall's west apron, near the Dilworth Park Cafe and tree groves. Seasonal installations can change its edges and entrances.

There is no dedicated lawn parking. Use SEPTA or a paid Center City garage and check for City Hall events that may restrict nearby streets or plaza access.

The park is open 6 a.m.-1 a.m., but the lawn is seasonal and can close for recovery, maintenance, private events or conversion to the Wintergarden. Programs keep their own published times.

Public bathrooms are inside City Hall and hours vary. Confirm access before settling in for a long visit, especially with children.

Ordinary lawn and Wintergarden access is free. Food, drinks, ticketed attractions and some special events are separate.

Barrier-free paved paths reach the lawn perimeter and seasonal garden. Grass, movable furniture, crowds and temporary event surfaces can be less predictable than the surrounding plaza.

Dogs are not allowed on the Greenfield Lawn. Leashed dogs may use other permitted park paths, but temporary events can impose tighter controls.

The lawn is useful for a short break near the fountain, while the Wintergarden offers a seasonal walk-through setting. It is not a fenced play area, so supervise children around plaza traffic and event equipment.

Do not assume the lawn is available because the park is open. Recovery periods and seasonal conversions can close the grass; check the current program if lawn seating is important.

The park sits above SEPTA's 15th Street and City Hall complex for Market-Frankford, Broad Street and trolley service, with concourse links toward Suburban Station. Use SEPTA's current concourse map and elevator status because the correct entrance and step-free path depend on the line and direction.
