Dilworth Park

Center City District materials list the park as open daily from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. The fountain, lawn, rink, Wintergarden, café, Patio, Starbucks, restrooms, markets and events use shorter seasonal or operating schedules.

Dilworth Park has no dedicated visitor lot. Transit is usually the simplest arrival; otherwise select a signed Center City garage before leaving and expect City Hall events, construction and street closures to affect curb access and demand.

Navigate to 1 South 15th Street on City Hall's west side. The fountain and seasonal rink occupy the center, the Greenfield Lawn is toward the northern half, and the glass transit entrances descend directly from the plaza.

Center City District directs visitors to bathrooms inside City Hall and warns that hours vary. Do not assume City Hall, the café, seasonal rink facilities or transit concourse restrooms will remain available for the full 6 a.m.-1 a.m. park day.

General plaza, lawn, seating, fountain play when operating, public art and many public programs are free. Ice skating, skate rental, food, drinks, market purchases, private rentals and ticketed events cost separately.

Street-level park paths are barrier-free, and the fountain is zero-depth. Dilworth elevators serve 15th Street Market-Frankford and trolley access, but SEPTA says full City Hall Broad Street Line accessibility remains an active project; check the exact line and live elevator status before relying on a step-free transfer.

Leashed dogs are allowed in the general plaza but not on the lawn or in the fountain. Keep pets on a leash no longer than six feet, remove waste, and follow additional restrictions at the rink, food areas, markets and permitted events.

The seasonal fountain is the primary child-focused activity; there is no conventional playground. Bring water shoes and dry clothes, supervise on wet hard pavement, keep children clear of transit stairs and commuter traffic, and verify that the fountain is operating before promising water play.

The park sits above SEPTA's 15th Street and City Hall complex for Market-Frankford, Broad Street and trolley service, with concourse links toward Suburban Station. Use SEPTA's current concourse map and elevator status because the correct entrance and step-free path depend on the line and direction.

The same compact spaces change use by season and event. Check the live park calendar before a fountain, lawn, rink or market-specific trip; verify City Hall restroom access; and treat food, alcohol and seasonal attractions as separately operated services.

The fountain, rink, lawn programs, Patio and events are weather permitting. The plaza is exposed to heat, lightning, wind, snow and ice; use an open substantial building or staffed transit route during severe weather rather than the glass headhouses as a gathering shelter.

The zero-depth fountain operates seasonally from April through October, and Center City District reported it open for the 2026 season. Events, maintenance, weather and winter rink conversion can pause some or all jets, so check the current calendar before traveling specifically to splash.

Janet Echelman's Pulse is integrated into the fountain plaza rather than displayed as a separate sculpture. Bursts of colored mist trace the transit routes below; the effect may be intermittent or unavailable when the fountain area is occupied, under maintenance or converted for winter.

The Patio is the current seasonal outdoor restaurant and bar extension of Dilworth Park Café, while the café and Starbucks provide additional food and grab-and-go options. Hours, menus, alcohol boundaries and weather closures differ from park access; outside alcohol is not permitted.

The published 2026 schedule includes free Tuesday evening Zumba through October 6 and Thursday evening Arts on Center Stage through August 27, plus changing markets and performances. All programs are weather permitting and subject to change; confirm the date on the live calendar.

Center City District describes the rink season as mid-November through late February. The next season's daily sessions, tickets, rentals and closures should be checked after the operator publishes them; do not rely on a prior winter's prices or hours.

Four tree groves define the park edges, with additional umbrellas or seasonal structures around food and programmed areas. The central fountain, lawn and rink remain substantially exposed, so bring sun protection and do not treat a transit headhouse as severe-weather shelter.
