I-70 Park and Ride Trailhead

Navigate to the geotagged I-70 Park and Ride at the eastern highway terminus. This is Trail Head 1; it is west of the Eagle Drive estate area and far from Carrie Murray Nature Center.

Use only the designated open park-and-ride area and obey current roadway, lot and overnight-parking signs. Secure the vehicle, take valuables and do not use highway shoulders as overflow parking.

Begin and finish during daylight park hours. Lot restrictions, construction, police activity, events, snow or maintenance can affect access independently from the trail network.

Do not expect a public restroom or water source at the park-and-ride. Prepare before arrival and carry water for the planned route.

Ordinary trailhead parking and park access are free unless current signs state otherwise. Transit, events and programs are separate.

The large paved arrival area is easier than many woodland entrances, but the onward trail surface, crossings, grades and current barriers must be assessed for the selected route.

Leashed dogs may start here for park trails. Keep them controlled in the parking area and near cyclists, and carry out waste.

The spacious arrival can simplify a short family trail outing, but there are no staffed facilities. Set a turnaround point, carry water and keep children close around vehicles and trail crossings.

This is an arrival point, not a full-service visitor center. Download the 2024 park map before leaving signal coverage and confirm that Trail Head 1 serves the route you actually want.

MTA buses reach several surrounding neighborhoods, while the Gwynns Falls Trail connects by bicycle and foot. Service does not eliminate long distances inside the park.
