Gwynns Falls Trail

Choose an official trailhead based on the planned segment: I-70 Park and Ride is Trail Head 1, Winans Meadow is Trail Head 2 and Windsor Mill is Trail Head 3. Do not leave a vehicle at an unrelated estate or facility after its access closes.

Use the trail during daylight park hours. Flooding, fallen trees, ice, maintenance and events can affect individual segments even when another trailhead remains open.

There is no continuous restroom service along the trail. Confirm a staffed facility before relying on it and plan remote segments as having no facilities.

Walking and bicycling the public trail are free. Programs, rentals, transit and events are separate.

The main trail provides the park's most predictable firm route, but crossings, grades, debris, detours and connections vary. Review the selected segment rather than assuming the entire corridor is level.

Leashed dogs may use the trail. Keep to one side, yield to other users, control dogs near cyclists and wildlife and remove waste.

A short out-and-back from a named trailhead is easier to manage than an open-ended route. Carry water, keep children out of streams and roadways and set a turnaround time.

This is a long connected route, not a short loop around the parent pin. Download the official map, choose a trailhead and save enough daylight and energy for the return.

MTA buses reach several surrounding neighborhoods, while the Gwynns Falls Trail connects by bicycle and foot. Service does not eliminate long distances inside the park.
