Nine Mile Run Trail

Use the exact trail point near Commercial Street only after reading current construction notices. Nine Mile Run extends south toward Duck Hollow and north into Frick's trail network; it is not reached from the Environmental Center without a substantial trail connection.

Commercial Street and Duck Hollow have served different ends of the corridor, but the bridge project can close lots and the connection between them. Follow PennDOT signs and do not park in work zones or assume a through-route exists.

Use the natural corridor in daylight and obey posted construction closures. Work windows, flooding, storms, ice, fallen trees and restoration activity can close the trail independently of broad park hours.

There is no dependable staffed restroom along the lower corridor. Use an open facility before arriving and carry water; construction may also affect portable or nearby options.

Trail access is free. This is an unstaffed public greenway, not a paid attraction or rental facility.

The corridor includes crushed gravel, boardwalk or bridge segments and construction detours. Conditions, grades and surfaces vary, and the active project means no continuous step-free route should be assumed without a same-day operator check.

Leashed dogs may use open trail sections under City rules. Keep dogs out of the stream and restoration areas and under close control near cyclists, narrow passages and construction fencing.

The stream restoration and relatively gentle lower corridor can interest trail-ready children, but road crossings, water, bikes, limited facilities and active construction require close supervision and a clear turnaround plan.

PennDOT's Commercial Street Bridge replacement is an active, time-sensitive constraint. Confirm which trail segment and parking area are open before leaving; never cross a barricade to complete a planned through-walk or ride.

The Environmental Center guide identifies bus 65 at Darlington and Beechwood and routes 61A and 61B at Forbes and Dallas. Choose transit for the intended park edge because Blue Slide, Forbes and Braddock, the Environmental Center and Nine Mile Run are not one compact arrival area.
