Frick Environmental Center

Navigate to 2005 Beechwood Boulevard and enter between the historic stone gatehouses. The modern center sits beyond the entrance landscape; it is not the Blue Slide, Forbes and Braddock or Nine Mile Run arrival.

Parking is available at the Environmental Center. Current ranger guidance uses the space between the two gatehouses as the trail-meeting point; arrive early for programs and do not assume the small lot can absorb major-event traffic.

The published building schedule is Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. and Sunday noon-5:00 p.m. Programs, holidays, rentals, maintenance and severe weather can alter access, so verify the current calendar.

Bathrooms and water fountains are documented at the center during building access. They are the most dependable starting facilities before a ravine walk, but they are not available after the building closes.

Ordinary public building and park access is free. Camps, classes, special programs, private rentals and reserved events may charge.

The center and its developed arrival provide the park's strongest firm-surface option. The City is evaluating additional ADA upgrades in 2026; nearby nature routes still vary in slope and surface, so follow posted accessible routing.

Leashed dogs may use open outdoor park routes, but building access and programs can restrict animals. Only ADA-defined service animals should be assumed inside; use the separate signed Upper Frick off-leash area for unleashed play.

The free living-building exhibits, bathrooms, water, programs and short nearby routes make this the easiest family orientation point. Confirm program registration and bring trail shoes for any walk beyond the developed campus.

The building schedule is narrower than park hours. Treat the center, education programs and outdoor trails as separate operating surfaces, and check the current calendar before relying on indoor facilities.

The Environmental Center guide identifies bus 65 at Darlington and Beechwood and routes 61A and 61B at Forbes and Dallas. Choose transit for the intended park edge because Blue Slide, Forbes and Braddock, the Environmental Center and Nine Mile Run are not one compact arrival area.
