Valley Green Inn and Trailhead

Navigate to the Valley Green Inn and lower trailhead pin on Valley Green Road beside Wissahickon Creek. This is a creek-level arrival on Forbidden Drive, not the upper Valley Green Road parking area.

Small public parking areas serve both sides of the Valley Green bridge and an upper lot sits farther up Valley Green Road. Spaces fill quickly; use only legal spaces, lock the vehicle and leave no valuables visible.

Use the trail during daylight under City trail rules. The restaurant, outdoor restroom and any event-controlled access keep their own schedules; confirm the inn directly if food or indoor service is essential.

Friends of the Wissahickon lists a permanent outdoor flushing restroom at Valley Green Inn. Because operating access can change, use it before heading away from the trailhead rather than assuming another restroom along the route.

Trailhead, bridge-view and Forbidden Drive access are free. Restaurant meals, private events and other services cost separately.

The arrival reaches broad gravel Forbidden Drive at creek level, but parking availability, gravel, bridge transitions and grades from the upper lot vary. Confirm a suitable space and current restroom access before a mobility-dependent trip.

Leashed dogs are allowed on park trails under the City's six-foot rule. The restaurant and event areas may set separate animal rules; keep dogs clear of diners and narrow bridge traffic.

This is a practical family starting point for a short creek walk because it combines a recognizable landmark, broad trail and restroom. Parking is tight and the creek is not a play or wading area.

Valley Green is popular and can feel full even when other Wissahickon entrances are quiet. Arrive with a backup trailhead, protect valuables and separate park access from restaurant hours or reservations.

SEPTA buses and regional rail serve several park edges. The Wissahickon Transportation Center is across Ridge Avenue from the southern trail entrance, while other bus and rail stops require a walk to a specific trailhead; route to the selected entrance, not the park center.
