Devil's Pool

The pool lies off the trail near the confluence of Cresheim and Wissahickon Creeks, more than half a mile from the nearest legal trailhead. Follow the official map and remain on the marked approach.

There is no legal parking or drop-off on Livezey Lane; it is emergency access. FOW recommends legal alternatives such as the Mt. Airy Avenue trailhead or Henry Avenue between the Summit and Wigard trailheads.

Visit only during daylight trail hours and leave enough time for the return hike. Storms, high water, ice, erosion or restoration can close the approach even when the broader park is open.

There is no restroom at Devil's Pool. Use one of the park's three permanent facilities before hiking, and remember that the nearest legal trailhead is more than half a mile away.

Trail access is free. No ticket, reservation or paid activity authorizes swimming or vehicle access on Livezey Lane.

The trail approach includes natural surfaces, rock, roots, grades and potentially slick edges; it is not a step-free destination. Limited cell service and the distance from emergency access increase the consequence of a fall.

Dogs must remain on a leash no longer than six feet and out of the water. Manage the leash carefully on rock, narrow approaches and crowded viewpoints.

This is not a splash pad or swimming hole. Families should choose it only for children able to manage the trail and follow water-edge rules; Forbidden Drive is a simpler first Wissahickon outing.

Swimming and wading are illegal and dangerous because of currents, submerged objects, water quality and wet rock. Do not jump, climb toward the water or block Livezey Lane, and carry all trash out.

SEPTA buses and regional rail serve several park edges. The Wissahickon Transportation Center is across Ridge Avenue from the southern trail entrance, while other bus and rail stops require a walk to a specific trailhead; route to the selected entrance, not the park center.
