Lake Roland Waterworks

The building stands immediately east of the dam near the south end of the central park peninsula. Use the named-building pin and view it from open public paths rather than following a service entrance.

Park in the main free Lakeside Drive visitor lot and walk. The building and nearby service routes are not public parking or turnaround areas.

The exterior may be viewed from open park routes before sunset. No dependable public drop-in interior schedule is published, so treat the Waterworks as an exterior landmark unless an official program says otherwise.

There are no visitor restrooms inside the historic service building. Use the Nature Center during its posted hours.

Viewing the exterior from ordinary park space is free. A scheduled tour or program, if offered, may use separate registration.

Developed central paths reach the general dam area, but the historic building approach and service boundaries vary. Remain on public routes and contact the park for program-specific access.

Leashed dogs may accompany visitors on ordinary park paths but should remain outside the service building and away from work areas.

The Waterworks pairs naturally with the dam for a short local-history stop. There are no guaranteed exhibits, staff or interior access, so set expectations before bringing children specifically for the building.

This is active or protected infrastructure, not an abandoned building to explore. Do not enter, climb or cross service barriers even if a door or road appears accessible.

MTA Light RailLink stops at Falls Road, where a boardwalk leads directly into the park. This is one of the region's most practical transit-to-trail connections.
