Lake Roland Dam

From the Lakeside Drive parking and Nature Center area, follow the peninsula map toward the lake's southern outlet and historic waterworks. This pin marks the photographed public viewpoint, not a route onto the structure.

Use the free main Lakeside Drive lot, then walk. Do not use service roads or the Waterworks building area as visitor parking, and leave enough time to return before the sunset gate closure.

View the dam during park hours and leave the property by sunset. High water, ice, maintenance and posted barriers can restrict the closest viewpoint independently from the wider park.

Use the Nature Center during its current daily 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. schedule, excluding county holidays. Do not expect facilities at the dam itself.

Ordinary park access and viewing the dam are free. Programs and Paw Point membership are separate.

The central paved-loop network provides the most predictable approach, but the exact closest view and grades can change with barriers and conditions. Do not cross fences for a better angle.

Dogs must remain leashed outside Paw Point. Keep them away from spillways, railings, steep edges and maintenance activity.

The dam is a short history-and-engineering stop near the central family zone, but it is not a play area. Hold children close around slopes, moving water and barriers.

Never climb the dam, enter the spillway or wade near the outlet. Rain and changing water levels can make the area more dangerous even when the park remains open.

MTA Light RailLink stops at Falls Road, where a boardwalk leads directly into the park. This is one of the region's most practical transit-to-trail connections.
