Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens Visitor Center

Enter at 1550 Anacostia Avenue NE and stop at the building before following pond or marsh paths.

A free visitor lot serves the gardens. It is modest in size and can fill during lotus bloom, ranger programs, and pleasant weekend mornings.

Admission is free, but building hours can be shorter than garden hours. There is no vending, so bring water and food needed for the visit.

Restrooms and drinking water are available during Visitor Center operating hours.

Accessible parking and two loan wheelchairs are available. Main routes include gravel, dirt, grass, a wood boardwalk, and paved Anacostia River Trail; conditions and firmness vary.

Leashed pets are allowed outdoors under posted rules, but sensitive wetland habitat and narrow paths require close control. Pets generally cannot enter the Visitor Center.

The ponds, turtles, frogs, birds, and short boardwalk are excellent for curious children. Bring water, bug protection, and close supervision around open water.
