Anacostia River Trail Connection at Kenilworth

Use the signed connector from the garden's outer paths and remember that the main visitor lot is not directly on the regional trail.

A free visitor lot serves the gardens. It is modest in size and can fill during lotus bloom, ranger programs, and pleasant weekend mornings.

Trail use is free. Confirm garden gate hours for the return, yield to faster bicycles, and plan distance and daylight before leaving the pond area.

Use Visitor Center restrooms before joining the longer trail.

Admission and parking are free.

Accessible parking and two loan wheelchairs are available. Main routes include gravel, dirt, grass, a wood boardwalk, and paved Anacostia River Trail; conditions and firmness vary.

Leashed pets are allowed outdoors under posted rules, but sensitive wetland habitat and narrow paths require close control. Pets generally cannot enter the Visitor Center.

The ponds, turtles, frogs, birds, and short boardwalk are excellent for curious children. Bring water, bug protection, and close supervision around open water.

Deanwood Metro on the Orange Line is roughly a half-mile walk. Review the pedestrian route in advance because the final neighborhood approach is less obvious than a downtown attraction.
