Burke Lake Park

Park grounds are open daily from sunrise to sunset. In 2026 the railroad, carousel, marina, mini golf, office, campground, store, and food service each follow detailed seasonal schedules and may close for weather, holidays, maintenance, or special events.

Large activity-specific lots are distributed inside the entrance. The marina and railroad have separate parking areas, while the dam and 24-hour state boat launch use a separate approach outside the main family recreation core.

The park entrance is the second Ox Road turn when traveling south and comes before the golf center when traveling north. Once inside, follow the official map to the marina, train and carousel, picnic zones, campground, or lake trail rather than stopping at the first lot.

Year-round permanent restrooms serve the ice cream parlor and Shelter A/B areas, while other mapped restrooms are seasonal. The official picnic map identifies facilities near the marina, train and carousel, playgrounds, and shelter zones.

Fairfax County residents enter free. From April through late October, non-county residents pay on weekends and holidays only: currently $12 per passenger vehicle or van, $6 per motorcycle, and $40 per bus. Rides, boating, golf, camping, reservations, and concessions charge separately.

The park provides accessible developed facilities, and the mini golf course is wheelchair accessible. The long lake loop includes changing surfaces and grades; contact the Park Authority for a specific accommodation or current route condition.

Leashed dogs can use park grounds and trails under Fairfax County rules, but pets are not permitted on rental boats or the tour boat. Keep dogs away from playgrounds, active rides, wildlife, and fishing activity.

The train, carousel, playgrounds, ice cream, marina, picnic areas, mini golf, and short lakeside walks can fill a family day. Check the individual attraction schedule before promising a ride or rental, especially outside summer.

This is primarily a vehicle-oriented destination with no dependable direct rail connection to the park entrance. Arrange the return before arrival if using rideshare, and navigate to the exact internal facility.

Swimming and windsurfing are prohibited. Gas motors and sailboats are prohibited, recreational kayaks are restricted unless used for fishing, attraction schedules are seasonal, and weekend entrance lines can build during good weather.

Bring water and a backup snack unless a currently open concession is confirmed near the exact destination. Food availability, vending, and event vendors are not consistent across this large public place.
