Old Cleveland Coast Guard Station

Use the exact station pin at the north end of the West Pier beyond Wendy Park. The building is offshore from the main lawn and requires a long walk; do not confuse it with marina buildings or assume that navigating to Wendy Park places you beside it.

Park in the public Wendy Park area and continue on foot along the pier. Do not drive onto the pedestrian pier, block marina circulation or enter port and railroad property; event and construction controls may change the approach.

The outdoor pier approach generally follows park access, and Cleveland Metroparks reported the former station access reopened to anglers after renovations. The historic building is not documented as a daily staffed interior attraction; posted pier, repair, weather and safety closures take priority.

No restroom is documented at the station or on the pier, and Wendy Park's official amenity list does not identify one. Use a confirmed facility before beginning the exposed out-and-back walk.

Walking to view the exterior and ordinary shoreline fishing access are free. Fishing requires compliance with current Ohio licensing and regulations; programs and marina services may cost separately.

The pier is a long, exposed route over hard surfaces, but current official sources do not document the complete step-free condition after repairs or public interior access. Confirm posted conditions before a mobility-specific trip.

Keep dogs leashed and away from anglers, hooks, fish waste and the water edge. Do not take pets through a posted closure or into the historic building.

The station, ships and harbor views can interest older children, but the long walk, open water, fishing gear and lack of documented restrooms require preparation and close supervision. It is not a short playground stop.

Access to the former station has reopened, but this remains an exposed working-harbor pier rather than a staffed museum. Check wind, waves, ice and posted repairs, bring what you need for an out-and-back walk and never cross rail or port property as a shortcut.
