Rock Creek Regional Park

Outdoor park areas are open daily from sunrise to sunset. The Lake Needwood boathouse, Meadowside programs, golf, Go Ape, shelters, and other facilities use separate seasonal or reservation-based schedules.

Parking is distributed among Lake Needwood, Meadowside, picnic, golf, and trail access areas. Use 15700 Needwood Lake Circle for boating and 5100 Meadowside Lane for the Meadowside trail complex; events and good-weather weekends can fill the closest lots.

Choose Lake Needwood, Lake Frank, Meadowside Nature Center trails, a picnic area, or another named entrance before navigating. The official park explicitly warns that its multiple entrances do not connect visitors directly to every activity.

Facilities are concentrated at developed recreation areas and may be seasonal. Meadowside's building and restrooms are currently closed for renovation, so do not begin that trail visit expecting indoor services.

General park and trail access are free. Lake Needwood rentals currently cost $15 per hour for kayaks, canoes, and rowboats, $12 per half hour for pedal boats, or $55 for a full day except pedal boats; tours, permits, golf, concessions, and partner activities charge separately.

Lake Needwood has an accessible dock and launch system, and the Needwood Queen can accommodate wheelchair users. The wider park includes asphalt hiker-biker trail, natural-surface lake trails, grades, roots, and long distances between entrances.

Dogs must remain leashed throughout the park. Lake Needwood welcomes dogs aboard rental boats, but owners must follow staff directions, boating rules, and any facility-specific restrictions.

Boating, playgrounds, lakeside walks, wildlife, picnic shelters, and short Meadowside routes offer varied family options. Match the activity to the season, weather, swimming prohibition, and availability of restrooms.

Transit usefulness depends on the selected entrance and a potentially long final walk. Confirm the exact destination and return route before relying on transit for Lake Needwood or Meadowside.

Swimming is prohibited in park lakes. Alcohol is prohibited, dogs must be leashed, buses need weekday permits and are not allowed on weekends, and boating depends on season, weather, permits, life jackets, and same-day operational conditions.

Bring water and a backup snack unless a currently open concession is confirmed near the exact destination. Food availability, vending, and event vendors are not consistent across this large public place.
