War of 1812 Memorial Cannons

Use the geotagged cannon point by the Observatory rather than searching the athletic-field or pool side of the park. The two landmarks can be visited in one short hilltop circuit.

Use legal perimeter street parking and walk to the Observatory hill. No general visitor vehicles are allowed on park paths.

The outdoor memorial follows dawn-to-dusk park access unless maintenance, a permitted event, or a posted closure controls the hilltop area.

There is no restroom at the cannons. The nearby Observatory interior is closed indefinitely and should not be counted as a restroom stop.

The outdoor memorial is free to view.

Paved park paths approach the hill, but grade and the immediate landscape should be assessed for the chosen mobility need. The cannons are historic objects, not play equipment.

Leashed dogs may use surrounding paths under the six-foot leash rule. Keep animals off the memorial base and gardens.

This is a compact history stop that pairs naturally with the Observatory exterior. Children should not climb or sit on the cannons and should stay with an adult on the hill.

The site is unstaffed and has no interpretive desk or guaranteed facilities. Read the memorial in place, protect the historic objects, and plan restroom access elsewhere.

MTA bus service runs along multiple park edges, including Baltimore Street and Eastern Avenue. Select the stop nearest your destination rather than the center of the park.
