Boat Lake

The lake lies in the southern part of the park near Eastern Avenue and Milton Avenue. Use the mapped lake point and park paths; the Baltimore Street recreation-center address is on the opposite side of the park.

Use legal perimeter street parking near Eastern Avenue or adjacent side streets, then walk in. Unauthorized private vehicles are not allowed on park paths.

The outdoor lake area follows dawn-to-dusk park hours. Ice, storms, maintenance, habitat work, fishing restrictions, and events can change practical access.

There is no dependable restroom at the shoreline. Use a staffed seasonal or recreation facility only when it is open, and plan for a walk across the park.

Wildlife viewing and ordinary park access are free. Fishing rules and any required Maryland license still apply.

Primary park approaches are paved, but shoreline edges, grass, wet surfaces, and habitat areas are not uniform. Stay on established paths and use the closest Eastern Avenue-side entrance.

Dogs must remain leashed at six feet or less outside the dog park. Keep dogs out of the water and wetland plantings and away from wildlife.

The lake is useful for birds, fish, and nature observation, but it is not a splash pad, swimming area, or boating attraction. Keep children beside an adult at the water edge.

The historic name can mislead visitors: current official guidance describes fishing, wildlife viewing, and education, not public boat rental or swimming.

MTA bus service runs along multiple park edges, including Baltimore Street and Eastern Avenue. Select the stop nearest your destination rather than the center of the park.
