East Potomac Park & Hains Point

East Potomac Park closes to all traffic daily from 1 a.m.-5 a.m. Individual golf, miniature golf, tennis, picnic reservations, restrooms, and concessions follow separate schedules, and the Hains Point loop can close for flooding, snow, events, or safety.

NPS lots A-C are along Ohio Drive and lot D serves the Buckeye Drive and tennis area. Metered parking is currently $2.30 per hour from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. daily except December 25, with pay-by-plate and posted three- or six-hour limits.

Use Ohio Drive SW and navigate to the exact activity. Hains Point is at the peninsula's south end, while golf, miniature golf, tennis, and the main parking areas are farther north.

Restrooms are available at selected developed areas, including Hains Point and recreation facilities, but hours and outages vary. Identify the closest facility to the chosen activity before walking the loop.

General park, shoreline, playground, and loop access are free. Golf, miniature golf, tennis, reservations, parking, rentals, and concessions charge separately.

Hains Point includes paved approaches, designated accessible parking, picnic space, and generally level waterfront routes. Facility entrances, older recreation areas, temporary flooding, and long distances still require destination-specific planning.

Leashed pets are allowed in outdoor park areas under posted National Park Service rules. Keep pets off active golf and tennis areas, playground surfaces, and protected shoreline habitat, and remove waste.

The playground, picnic grove, miniature golf, loop, and open lawns provide flexible family options. The peninsula is exposed to heat, storms, traffic, and water edges, so bring water and supervise closely.

L'Enfant Plaza and Waterfront Metro are the nearest practical rail approaches, followed by a substantial walk, bikeshare ride, or seasonal transit connection. Confirm the final route to the exact activity.

Hains Point is low and flood-prone. Check NPS alerts, weather, Potomac water conditions, recreation-facility schedules, and loop-road status before traveling specifically for a shoreline circuit or reserved activity.

Bring water and a backup snack unless a currently open concession is confirmed near the exact destination. Food availability, vending, and event vendors are not consistent across this large public place.
