Mount Calavera Volcanic Trail

Use a signed preserve trailhead and follow the posted route toward Mount Calavera; do not rely on the lake shoreline as the only navigation cue.

Trailhead parking is limited and dispersed. Park legally without blocking homes, gates, bike lanes, or emergency access.

Use during daylight and follow posted preserve hours and closures.

No dependable public restroom is available on the ridge route.

This is a steep, exposed, natural-surface hike and is not a continuous accessible route.

Leashed dogs are allowed on City trails; protect paws from heat and sharp or loose surfaces.

The summit terrain is significantly harder and more exposed than the lake edge. Treat it as a hike, not an extension of a casual stroller walk. Avoid peak heat, carry more water than for the lake loop, watch loose footing, and turn around before fatigue or darkness.
