Lake Calavera Preserve

Choose an official trail access before navigating; the preserve has multiple neighborhood approaches and no single full-service front gate. Calavera Hills Community Park is a separate developed park.

Use the preserve during daylight hours and obey posted gate, habitat, fire-weather, and trail closures.

Parking is limited and varies by trailhead. Use only signed public spaces, keep neighborhood access clear, and do not park in fire lanes.

Do not rely on a restroom or drinking water in the preserve. Use nearby developed parks or facilities before beginning a longer loop.

Public trail access is free. There is no full-service visitor facility or guaranteed dedicated parking at every access point.

Older children may enjoy the lake and short trail options, but heat, hills, loose surfaces, exposure, and route-finding make this different from a playground park.

Natural surfaces, grades, erosion, and narrow segments vary across the network. Review the exact access and turn-around point before a mobility-sensitive visit.

Leashed dogs are allowed on City trails; remove waste and keep pets out of sensitive habitat and water.

Expect a mix of firm developed approaches and natural dirt, gravel, sand, roots, grades, or seasonal mud. A stroller-friendly entrance does not guarantee a stroller-friendly full route.

Permanent food service is not guaranteed. Bring water and snacks unless the official page or an event listing confirms an open concession.

Check heat, wind, rain, tides, surf, water quality, and posted closures as relevant on the day of the visit. Conditions can change faster than the site's normal hours.
