Forest Hill Park

Open daily from sunrise to sunset. Market, concert, Stone House rental and court schedules are separate.

Use legal park lots and roadside spaces near the lake, Stone House and recreation areas. Saturday market and summer events fill the central spaces quickly; do not park on grass.

Enter from Forest Hill Avenue and choose the lake/Stone House area or a named trail approach. Natural trails cross hilly terrain and do not all return directly to the same lot.

Developed park and event areas provide facilities, but trail loops and wetland sections do not have continuous restroom or water access.

General park, trails, playground, courts and lake access is free. Rentals, programs, vendors and permitted events charge separately.

Developed areas near the Stone House, playground and lake have firmer routes. Natural trails are rooty, steep, muddy and shared with mountain bikes.

Leashed dogs are allowed in Forest Hill Park. Keep them controlled around the market, playground, wetlands, wildlife and bikes.

The playground, lake, picnic areas and market work well for families. Watch children near water, steep hills and fast-moving bicycles on shared trail crossings.

GRTC routes serve Forest Hill Avenue. Confirm the closest stop and account for hills between the corridor and interior park features.

The South of the James Farmers Market traditionally runs Saturday mornings and changes parking and circulation. Wet trails can be damaged by use after heavy rain; choose paved areas when conditions are soft.

Check current Richmond weather, James River levels, air quality and operator alerts. Heat, thunderstorms, flash flooding, high water, ice, wind and event closures can independently affect roads, trails, bridges or facilities.
