North Shore Riverfront Park

The current Sports and Exhibition Authority rules open the park every day from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Water features, permitted events, stadium security areas, museums and commercial river users can keep separate schedules or alter access.

North Shore garages and surface lots are paid, and rates vary with the day's events. The park rules say major-event rates begin about five hours before game time; use the exact destination, check both stadium calendars and consider transit before driving.

This is a long riverfront corridor, not one compact entrance. Use the exact Water Steps pin for Canal Square, North Shore Drive at Art Rooney Avenue for Tribute to Children and the Great Lawn, or the PNC Park end for the Korean War Memorial and Roberto Clemente Bridge connection.

The official park pages and rules do not identify an always-open public restroom in the outdoor park. Restrooms inside stadiums, museums, restaurants or other staffed attractions follow their own admission rules and hours; confirm a facility before a long visit.

Ordinary use of the Riverwalk, lawns, Water Steps viewing area, memorials and public art is free. Parking, museums, stadium events, food, cruises and reserved events cost separately.

The Riverwalk and Carnegie Science Center connection are paved, and the operator describes that connection as accessible to people with disabilities. Grades, memorial approaches, crowds, event fencing and temporary security routes can still change the practical path.

Dogs and other pets must remain leashed and under control in the park. Animals are not allowed at the Water Steps, and dogs should stay out of memorial interiors, event footprints and posted security areas.

The river views, boats, memorials and Water Steps make a strong family walk, but the Water Steps are not a splash pad: current rules prohibit swimming, wading, bathing, pets, food and drink there. Supervise closely beside moving water and the open river edge.

North Side and Allegheny light-rail stations are in Pittsburgh Regional Transit's Free Fare Zone with downtown stations. The Roberto Clemente Bridge and other downtown bridges also provide pedestrian approaches, which can avoid event-day parking congestion.

PNC Park and Acrisure Stadium schedules can change traffic, parking prices, security barriers and event access. Water Steps operation is not guaranteed by the published park hours, river levels and weather affect the waterfront, and permitted events can occupy lawns or paths; check same-day operator and venue notices.

Check Pittsburgh weather, air quality, river levels and operator alerts. Steep trails, pools, spray parks, fountains, docks and events can close independently.
