Columbus Park of Roses

The exact pin is on the named OpenStreetMap garden way. Enter Whetstone Park on Hollenback Road and continue about one-half mile west; the gardens are east of the Shelterhouse at the top of the steps.

Free garden parking is reached from Hollenback Road. Step-free ADA parking is at the garden's east end off Roselea Place; check construction notices before relying on the usual route.

Columbus Park of Roses is open from 7:00 a.m. to dusk year-round, which is earlier than Whetstone Park's 11:00 p.m. closing time.

Portable restrooms are at the east end beside ADA parking and north of the Shelterhouse near the Backyard Garden. Shelterhouse indoor restrooms are for event users.

There is no admission fee and ordinary visitor parking is free. Shelterhouse rentals, wedding sites and special activities cost separately.

Use the ADA parking at the east end off Roselea Place for a step-free approach. The operator does not describe every garden path, lawn or construction segment as barrier-free.

Dogs in city parks must be securely leashed or under direct control and waste must be removed. Keep animals out of formal beds and yield to garden work and events.

The free outdoor garden works for a short family walk, but it is a planted landscape rather than a playground. Keep children on paths and out of beds and water features.

The strongest rose display generally begins in mid-June and lasts through mid-September. Weather shifts bloom, and 2026 hard-surface and Hollenback Road work may temporarily alter paths or parking.

The Park of Roses directs riders to COTA Route 2 on North High Street at Acton Road, followed by about a half-mile walk west on Hollenback Road. The Olentangy Trail provides bicycle access to Whetstone Park.
