Whetstone Park and Columbus Park of Roses

Whetstone Park is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Columbus Park of Roses keeps shorter hours of 7:00 a.m. to dusk year-round, and the community center is normally open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The park has multiple lots. Park of Roses visitors are directed west on Hollenback Road to free garden parking; step-free ADA parking is at the garden's east end off Roselea Place. Construction and busy bloom-season events can change the closest approach.

Use 3923 North High Street for the community center and east-side recreation. For the Park of Roses, enter Whetstone Park on Hollenback Road and continue about one-half mile west; route to a named facility because the grounds cover 149 acres.

The Park of Roses provides portable restrooms at the east end near ADA parking and north of the Shelterhouse. Shelterhouse indoor restrooms are available to event users, and community-center facilities depend on staffed hours.

Columbus Park of Roses has no admission fee and its visitor parking is free. Ordinary park use is not ticketed; shelterhouse rentals, wedding sites, classes and reserved activities cost separately.

The city documents 1.6 miles of paved park path, and the garden provides step-free ADA parking off Roselea Place. Prairie paths, turf, trail connections and construction areas can have different surfaces or temporary barriers.

Animals in city parks must be securely leashed or under direct control and waste must be removed. On the Olentangy greenway, pets must use a leash no longer than six feet; protect formal garden beds.

The park page lists a playground, stocked pond, paved path and gardens, and the city reports a recently added lower-fields playground. Supervise children at the pond and keep them out of planted beds.

The Park of Roses directs riders to COTA Route 2 on North High Street at Acton Road, followed by about a half-mile walk west on Hollenback Road. The Olentangy Trail provides bicycle access to Whetstone Park.

Peak rose bloom generally runs from mid-June through mid-September. The city lists 2026 path, Hollenback Road, pond-lot and community-center work and warns that schedules depend on contractors and weather, so check signs and the improvements page before relying on the usual route.

Check the National Weather Service Columbus forecast before a garden, prairie or trail visit. Rose bloom and outdoor comfort vary with heat and rain, and storms, wind, snow or ice can affect paths and programs independently.
