Buffaloe Road Athletic Park

Use 5900 Buffaloe Road for the athletic park and 5908 Buffaloe Road for the Aquatic Center entrance. The Neuse River Greenway also has City-listed access parking around 5812 Buffaloe Road. Large tournaments and swim sessions can fill nearby spaces, so follow event signs and do not block field or emergency access.

Navigate to 5900 Buffaloe Road for the ballfields, track, playgrounds, dog park, and athletic-campus access. Use 5908 Buffaloe Road when the Aquatic Center is your primary destination. Greenway users can also use the signed trail access around 5812 Buffaloe Road rather than crossing active field areas.

The Aquatic Center has restrooms and water fountains for admitted pool patrons, but the current athletic-park page does not clearly document a separate always-open outdoor restroom building. Tournament concession or field facilities may vary by event. Call Athletics or the Aquatic Center before a visit that depends on restroom access without pool admission.

There is no single campus-wide schedule because fields and the track follow events. Greenway access is dawn to dusk. Field lights are normally scheduled 5 a.m. to sunrise daily and 6-9:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, subject to programs and weather. Pool hours and capacity are separate and should be checked the day of a swim.

The complex has five halogen-lit baseball and softball diamonds with skinned infields, hybrid-grass outfields, irrigation, enclosed dugouts, scoreboards, and bleachers. Fields 1-3 are 200 feet, Field 4 is 350 feet for older youth and adults, and Field 5 is 250 feet. A multipurpose field sits inside the track.

The park has an eight-lane, 400-meter asphalt track. Casual use depends on scheduled leagues, tournaments, practices, maintenance, and special events; reserved activities have priority. Check field status and avoid the track when the infield or complex is closed for an event.

The free fenced dog park has separate areas for large and small dogs, a woodchip base, shade, and drinking fountains for dogs and people. Dogs may be off leash only inside the appropriate enclosure. Remain with your dog, remove waste, and leave if behavior or crowding becomes unsafe.

There are separate playgrounds for ages 2-5 and 5-12. The younger area uses sand surfacing, while the older playground uses woodchips. Neither surface is as predictably rollable as poured rubber, so contact Raleigh Parks if accessible equipment or a continuous firm route is essential.

Yes. The 27.5-mile paved Neuse River Greenway connects at the athletic park. From here the trail runs north toward Horseshoe Farm and Wake Forest connections and south toward Milburnie Dam, Anderson Point, Knightdale, and Johnston County links. It is part of Raleigh's regional system, not a trail to Charlotte.

The year-round indoor facility includes a three-story waterslide, lazy river, water vortex, three lap lanes, zero-depth entry, toddler water-play features, and a tot slide. The large yellow slide requires a measured height of at least 48 inches; children under 48 inches must stay within arm's reach of a responsible adult in the water.

Yes. Admission is first-come and capacity can change with staffing and programs. If full, staff may use a front-desk waiting list. Call 919-996-5600 on the day of your visit, especially on weekends or school breaks, and do not assume purchasing or holding a general pass guarantees immediate entry.

Yes. Outside food and nonalcoholic drinks are allowed, and coolers may be inspected. Glass and alcohol are prohibited. The facility does not sell food or drinks, although water fountains are available. Delivery is allowed only if you meet the driver in the lobby; staff will not receive it for you. Bring your own towel.
