Romare Bearden Park

The park is open during posted daylight and event hours. Water features, programmed events, nearby businesses and public facilities operate on separate schedules.

The park has no dedicated public lot. Use a legal Uptown street space or paid garage and compare rates before entry; baseball games, football games, concerts and conventions can sharply increase prices and demand.

The Church Street side is the simplest general approach. Choose the event lawn, sprayground, waterfall or Truist Field side before navigating, and expect temporary street controls during major Uptown events.

Do not depend on a continuously open public restroom inside the park. Plan around an open nearby business, venue or public facility, especially with children or during an event.

Ordinary park, lawn, gardens, art and water-feature access are free. Parking, nearby attractions, food and ticketed events cost separately.

Paved walks and curb ramps make the compact park broadly accessible. Crowds, temporary event barriers, wet sprayground surfaces and steep approaches from some Uptown blocks can affect the preferred route.

Leashed dogs are allowed in general park areas. Keep them out of active sprayground water, remove waste and use extra control during crowded events.

The seasonal sprayground, chimes, open lawn and trains passing nearby can make a short family stop memorable. Shade is limited in parts of the park and restroom planning is important.

The park is walkable from the CATS CityLYNX Gold Line and Uptown bus and rail connections. Transit is often easier than parking during games and festivals.

This park changes character with the Uptown calendar. Check Truist Field and nearby event schedules, confirm whether the sprayground is operating, and bring sun protection because the central lawn is exposed.

Check current Charlotte weather, heat index, air quality, thunderstorm risk and Mecklenburg County alerts. Heavy rain can flood creek greenways and natural trails even when nearby streets or developed park areas remain open.
