Chinese Garden

The Chinese Garden is a compact walled landscape of architecture, stone, water and plants intended for quiet viewing from maintained paths.

Main entrance parking is free. When the main lot fills, use signed free overflow lots near Shaw Boulevard and South Vandeventer Avenue; major evening events may use remote lots and shuttles.

Chinese Garden keeps its own admission, operating, seasonal, staffing, event, wildlife, water-quality, maintenance, or weather schedule. Check the cited official source and current operator notices before leaving.

Accessible and family restrooms are distributed through major visitor buildings, including the Sachs Museum, Spink Pavilion and Brookings Exploration Center areas.

General admission is paid for adults, while children 12 and under are free. St. Louis city and county residents receive designated free periods with proof and capacity limits; Children's Garden, tram and special events may charge separately.

Major visitor buildings and many garden paths are accessible, with wheelchairs and a wheelchair-accessible tram available under current rules. Historic Tower Grove House is not wheelchair or stroller accessible.

Pets are not admitted. Trained service animals are allowed under garden rules, although access may be restricted where animal or collection safety requires it.

The Climatron, Brookings Exploration Center, koi, maze and seasonal Doris I. Schnuck Children's Garden offer strong family choices. The Children's Garden is generally open April-October and its splash pad is seasonal.

MetroBus serves the Shaw and Tower Grove area; rideshare and cycling are practical. Verify the final route because the nearest MetroLink station still requires a transfer or substantial walk.
