Millennium Park

Use 1415 Maynard Avenue SW in Walker for the main recreation area, Kids' City, beach, splash pad, shelters, and boat rentals. The 1,400-acre park has other trail access points, so use the official map for hiking routes.

General park parking is free. Lots A and B are convenient for Kids' City and the main recreation area; beach admission is charged separately. Busy hot-weather weekends can fill the closest spaces.

The park has nearly 18 miles of trails. Most allow walking, bicycles, rollerblades, and other human-powered use; surfaces include paved regional connections and park paths through rolling natural terrain.

Kids' City is near both large open picnic shelters and is easy to reach from parking lots A and B, between the main recreation-area entrance and the beach. Playground access does not require beach admission.

For 2026, the splash pad operates 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. through August 23, then 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. through Labor Day. It is inside the paid beach area and may close for weather or maintenance.

Yes. The Van Andel Beach House provides restrooms, changing rooms, lockers, concessions, and plaza picnic space during beach operations. Other seasonal facilities may be limited outside the paid beach area.

Developed lots, Kids' City, beach house, splash pad plaza, shelters, and portions of the trail network provide step-free access. Sand, water entry, rolling terrain, and natural routes vary; contact Kent County Parks for current beach accommodations.

Daily beach and splash-pad admission is $4 for ages 16-62, $3 for age 63 and older, $2 for ages 3-15, and free for children 2 and under. General park and trail access remain free.

The official park season is May 1 through October 31, 7:00 a.m. to sunset. Beach and splash-pad operations end around Labor Day, and water, concessions, rentals, restrooms, and gates can close earlier by season or weather.

Two large accessible open shelters stand beside Kids' City, with a smaller first-come family shelter near volleyball and another shelter inside the paid beach area. The playground also has a small toddler shade structure, while the beach, splash pad, courts, and many trail segments are exposed. Open shelters help with sun and ordinary rain but are not safe for lightning or high wind; the Beach House is available only during seasonal beach hours.

Dogs may use Millennium Park's ordinary trails and park grounds on a leash no longer than 6 feet held by the handler. The park does not list a designated dog park, so no area should be treated as off leash; remove waste and obey posted exclusions at the paid beach, splash pad, playground, shelters, events, or other developed facilities. Service-animal access follows applicable law.

Open Shelters A and B are reservable, barrier-free shelters beside Kids' City; each holds up to 140 people and has 18 tables, two double charcoal grills, electricity, water, and nearby restrooms. A smaller family shelter near volleyball and a shelter inside the paid beach area are first come, first served. Shelter rental does not include beach or splash-pad admission.

Yes. The Rapid operates Route 1000 Millennium Park between Rapid Central Station and the park, with a named Millennium Park stop and real-time information. Check the current operating day and return schedule before leaving because this destination route does not necessarily run at all times; the beach, splashpad, Kids' City, shelters, and trail system may still require an additional walk inside the park.

The main activity core at 1415 Maynard Avenue contains the six-acre beach and splashpad, Van Andel Beach House, DeVos Family Boathouse, Kids' City playground, shelters, volleyball, basketball, and Currie Amphitheater. The broader 1,400-acre park has nearly 18 miles of trails and separate trailheads; Hansen Nature Trail begins at Butterworth and Riverbend Drives for a quieter wetland loop. Route to the activity core or a named trailhead, not only the broad park boundary.
