Cylburn Arboretum

Outdoor grounds are open Tuesday-Sunday, currently 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., and closed Mondays. Building schedules change independently; the Nature Education Center and Mansion have limited posted hours, and the Vollmer Center is temporarily closed for maintenance.

Free onsite parking is available near the main entrance and Vollmer Center. Accessible spaces are in the upper lot; special events can change parking or use overflow areas.

Use the main Greenspring Avenue gate and start near the Vollmer Center circle for maps and the most direct access to formal gardens. Gates close promptly, so leave enough time to return to your vehicle.

Restrooms are available in the Greenhouse Classroom during arboretum hours; staffed buildings provide additional facilities only when open.

General arboretum and garden entry is free. Classes, special events, rentals and permitted photography may charge.

Paved routes connect parking, major buildings and formal gardens, with accessible parking near Vollmer Center. Woodland trails have natural surfaces and are not recommended for strollers.

Leashed dogs are welcome on outdoor grounds; clean-up bags are provided. Pets are not ordinarily allowed inside buildings, and service-animal rules apply.

Gardens, the children's garden and Nature Education Center are family-friendly. Balls, lawn games, kites and climbing trees are prohibited to protect the collection.

MTA service runs near Greenspring Avenue, but the final approach and distances across the grounds should be checked before relying on transit.

There is no food service onsite. Picnics are limited to groups of ten or fewer, tables and tents are prohibited, and posed photography or proposals require advance permission.

Check Baltimore heat, thunderstorms, heavy rain, snow and ice before visiting. Woodland trails, grass and garden paths can become slick or muddy, while buildings may close independently even when outdoor grounds remain available.

The current August schedule lists the Nature Education Center Tuesday-Saturday 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and closed Sundays in August; Cylburn Mansion Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.; and the Vollmer Visitor Center temporarily closed for maintenance. Recheck the building page because these hours are seasonal and independent from the grounds.

Cylburn is intentionally a quiet public garden rather than a sports park: its official guide emphasizes the tree collection, gardens, trails and wildlife across 200 acres and says there are no ball fields, courts, swimming pools or recreation centers.

Do not assume the Mansion is open whenever the grounds are open. The current August facilities page lists limited 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. hours on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with tours and activities on the second Saturday and Sunday; schedules can change independently.
