Boston Common Frog Pond

Frog Pond sits on the Beacon Street side below the State House. Its spray pool, winter rink, carousel, cafe, and programs are seasonal and do not all operate together.

There is no surface visitor lot. The paid Boston Common Garage beneath the park is convenient, but transit is usually simpler and events can restrict streets and garage access.

Boston parks generally close from 11:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Frog Pond, the Visitor Information Center, restrooms, programs, and events have separate seasonal schedules.

Public restrooms are near the Visitor Information Center and Frog Pond when those facilities are open. Do not assume late-night or event access.

General park access, Tadpole Playground, monuments, and summer Frog Pond spray play are free. Winter skating, rentals, food, parking, and some programs cost separately.

Primary paved walks and major entrances provide stair-free routes, but the Common is rolling terrain with historic paving, winter ice, lawn grades, and event barriers.

Leashed dogs are allowed outside posted dog-free areas; designated off-leash use has separate rules. Dogs are not allowed in Tadpole Playground or Frog Pond facilities.

Frog Pond, Tadpole Playground, lawns, monuments, and short Freedom Trail connections make a strong family stop. Check seasonal water or skating status before promising the activity.

Park Street station is beside the Common; Boylston, Downtown Crossing, and multiple bus routes are also close. Transit avoids scarce and expensive downtown parking.
