Louis Armstrong Park

Open daily 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. in winter and 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. during daylight saving time; events may change gates and access.

Use paid French Quarter or Tremé street parking and garages, transit, biking, walking, or rideshare. There is no large free visitor lot dedicated to the park.

The ceremonial arch on North Rampart is the clearest general entrance; Congo Square sits toward St. Peter Street and event venues have separate controlled entries.

Do not rely on always-open public restrooms inside the landscape. Event venues and nearby visitor businesses provide facilities only during their operating hours.

Ordinary park and Congo Square access are free. Performances, parking, permits, tours, food, and special events may charge.

Major paths and entrances are paved, but bridges, older surfaces, temporary event barriers, and closed buildings can affect routes.

Leashed dogs may use ordinary outdoor areas under city rules; events, theaters, cultural programs, and posted areas may restrict pets.

The open landscape, bridges, sculpture, music history, and Congo Square can support a short family visit, but there is no playground and water edges need supervision.

Rampart streetcar service, buses, walking, biking, and rideshare make this one of the easiest car-free parks to reach from the French Quarter.

Congo Square is a living cultural site, not simply an event lawn. Respect ceremonies and performances; verify gates and events, and do not assume the Municipal Auditorium or Perseverance Hall is open.

Check New Orleans' hourly heat index, lightning, severe-storm and heavy-rain alerts, flash-flood risk, tropical weather, air quality, and current facility notices. Pavement, play equipment, levees, and exposed riverfront paths become dangerously hot, while low trails and streets may flood quickly.
