Ala Moana Regional Park

Open daily from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Individual concessions, lifeguards, pavilions, restrooms and permitted activities keep separate hours.

Multiple free park lots and roadside spaces run along the long park drive, but they fill at beach peaks and major events. Pick Magic Island, the central beach, courts or a bathhouse before entering.

Use the Magic Island entrance for the peninsula and lagoon, the central park drive for beach and lawns, or the Ewa and Diamond Head ends for their bathhouses and concessions.

Bathhouses and comfort stations with outdoor showers serve the beach and Magic Island areas. Renovation or cleaning can close one facility independently, so note the next closest station.

Park, beach, lagoon, paths, lawns, ordinary picnic use and outdoor courts are free. Food, permits, rentals and ticketed events cost separately.

Paved park drives and promenades reach the principal areas, and beach-access support is available through Honolulu's accessible beach program. Sand and seawalls still require route planning.

Dogs are prohibited under current posted park rules, including Magic Island, except as allowed for trained service animals. Follow entrance signs rather than older proposals for expanded dog access.

The protected swimming water, broad lawns, showers and food access support a long family visit. There is no substitute for close ocean supervision even inside the reef-protected beach and lagoon.

TheBus serves Ala Moana Center and the boulevard opposite the park. Crossing the wide road and walking to the far end of Magic Island adds time, especially with children or beach gear.

The Banyan Courtyard and portico at Lester McCoy Pavilion remain under improvement with completion targeted by the end of 2026. Large ceremonies and events can also change parking and ordinary access.

Check current Oahu weather, ocean conditions and operator alerts. Extreme UV, heat, heavy rain, flash flooding, high surf, wind, currents, jellyfish and water-quality notices can close trails, beaches, boats or facilities independently.
