Riverfront Park

Use 507 North Howard Street for the central park and Rotary Fountain, or 832 North Howard Street for the Ice Age Floods Playground. Navigate directly to the Pavilion, carousel, SkyRide, Skate Ribbon, Providence Playscape, or event entrance when that is your destination.

The outdoor park is open daily from 6 a.m.-midnight. Playgrounds, splash pads, carousel, SkyRide, Skate Ribbon, pavilion, shuttle, restrooms, food, and events have separate schedules.

Public vehicles do not drive through the park. Use a downtown public lot, garage, or legal street space near the destination; the City lists several affordable nearby lots, including access from Spokane Falls Boulevard toward Washington Street.

Ice Age Floods Playground is a 40,000-square-foot adventure area with a three-story slide tower, climber, fossil dig, and seasonal splash pad. Providence Playscape is a smaller, fenced, all-inclusive playground with resilient surfacing and adaptive sensory features.

For 2026, Rotary Fountain opened May 1 and Ice Age Floods Playground water play opened May 29. Spokane splash pads normally run 9 a.m.-8 p.m. but can close for maintenance; call the Aquatics Hotline for same-day status.

Providence Playscape has wheelchair-friendly resilient surfacing, adaptive play elements, family restrooms with adult changing tables, seating with chair-charging receptacles, and nearby accessible parking. The SkyRide is also wheelchair accessible through its main entrance.

General park entry, playgrounds, splash pads, paths, public art, and river views are free. SkyRide, carousel, skating, Park Connect shuttle, food, rentals, downtown parking, and some events charge separately.

Yes. The SkyRide can close without notice for high winds, temperatures above 90 degrees, mechanical conditions, or events. Splash pads and other attractions also close for maintenance or seasonal changes, so check the current attraction calendar.

Providence Playscape includes family restrooms with adult changing tables near the inclusive play area. Other attraction and event restrooms use their own schedules, so choose a mapped facility before crossing the park with children.

The park's signature stops include Spokane Falls, the Pavilion, Great Northern Clock Tower, Looff Carrousel, SkyRide, Rotary Fountain, Ice Age Floods Playground, Snxw Meneɂ island, and Expo '74 public art. Use the park map to connect them across bridges and islands.

Broad paved promenades and bridges connect most central attractions, while some overlooks and river-edge routes use grades or steps. Use the official map and Providence Playscape accessibility information to plan a step-free route to the exact attraction.

Forestry Shelter and North Bank Shelter provide covered outdoor gathering space, and mature trees shade portions of the river paths and islands. Gesa Pavilion has indoor meeting rooms and a public lobby only when open or reserved; attractions and other buildings follow separate schedules. Lawns, bridges, playgrounds, river overlooks, and event plazas are exposed, and outdoor shelters are not safe substitutes for a substantial building during lightning or high wind.

Yes, on a leash and with waste removed. Riverfront Park is not a general off-leash area, and pets can be prohibited during large events such as the Fourth of July under Spokane city rules. Keep dogs away from playground equipment, splash pads, rides, indoor attractions, and any temporarily restricted event zone; check the event calendar before a pet-specific visit.

North Bank Shelter is the practical smaller reservation, overlooking upper Spokane Falls and Snxw Mene Island with capacity around 156, potable water, a drinking fountain, power, and accessible access. Forestry Shelter and Lawn is the large reunion or event option on the northeast side. Groups of 25 or fewer may use open park space first come, first served without structures or utilities, but any Riverfront shelter use or larger organized group requires the park's event inquiry and permit process.

STA Route 11 Downtown/North Bank Shuttle loops between downtown, Riverfront Park, the Spokane Arena, and North Bank destinations. City Line and the STA Plaza are practical for the park's south side near River Park Square and Spokane Falls Boulevard. Use Route 11 for North Bank venues or to avoid crossing the full park on foot, and check STA's live planner for event reroutes and the stop closest to the Pavilion, Looff Carrousel, or arena side.
