North Beach and Hidden Valley Trail

North Beach is reached by a long forest-and-bluff descent, commonly via Hidden Valley Trail; the return climb, tides, mud, and limited facilities matter.

Use the North, East, or South general-use lots. The beach lot by West Point Lighthouse is ADA-placard only; there is no general parking past the East Lot.

Discovery Park follows posted Seattle park hours. The Visitor Center is closed until summer 2027; parking, beach access, cultural facilities, restrooms, and shuttle use separate conditions.

Restrooms are available at selected developed areas, but the closed Visitor Center reduces indoor services. Plan around parking areas and cultural-facility hours.

General park, trails, beaches, viewpoints, play area, and seasonal shuttle are free. Programs, events, and nearby services may charge.

The beach parking lot is restricted to ADA placards. Trails range from developed routes to steep bluff and beach paths; the seasonal shuttle accepts service animals and strollers.

Follow posted leash and beach rules. Pets are not allowed on the seasonal shuttle, and wildlife, cultural grounds, narrow trails, and tidal areas require control.

Meadows, play area, Loop Trail sections, lighthouse views, and the seasonal shuttle work for families, but long distances and steep beach approaches require planning.

Metro routes 24 and 33 reach park edges; route 33 serves the North Lot. The free summer shuttle runs Thursday through Sunday through September 5, 2026.
