Refuge grounds are open one-half hour before sunrise until one-half hour after sunset. False Cape is open sunrise-sunset and its visitor center is generally open 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; visitors traveling through the refuge must exit within 30 minutes of sunset.
Day-use areas are open daily 7:00 a.m.-dusk. The office and Chesapeake Bay Center are open 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.; the Trail Center is open 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
The park follows posted Virginia Beach city-park hours, generally sunrise to sunset. Lighted facilities, programs and special events may use different schedules.
The Aquarium is open daily 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., except Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and inclement-weather closures. General-admission entry ends at 3:30 p.m.; member entry ends at 4:00 p.m.
The beach and boardwalk are publicly accessible throughout the day, subject to emergency and event closures. Lifeguards generally staff the Oceanfront from 9:30 a.m. to at least 6:00 p.m. between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend.
