Heron Trail Wetland Boardwalk

Start at the Lockheed Boulevard Visitor Center, follow Cedar Trail through the forest, and continue onto signed Heron Trail. The South Kings Highway route does not provide the short boardwalk approach.

The main Lockheed Boulevard lot is the correct choice for the boardwalk and Visitor Center. A small lot at 6901 South Kings Highway serves only the hike-bike trail; do not expect it to provide a short boardwalk approach.

Boardwalk access is free. Pets, bicycles, scooters, jogging, running, fishing, and netting are prohibited; walk slowly, stay on the narrow boards, protect wildlife, and expect heat, insects, wet surfaces, and seasonal water changes.

There are no facilities on the boardwalk. Use the Visitor Center restrooms before beginning and carry out all waste.

Individual and family access to the boardwalk is free.

The approach includes a measured accessible stonedust route, while the wetland boardwalk is narrow and conditions can be damp; contact the park for a specific accommodation.

Pets are prohibited on Heron Trail and the wetland boardwalk.

Wildlife viewing is excellent for patient children, but running, jogging, scooters, and bicycles are prohibited on the narrow boardwalk.
