Active Pool

The Active Pool is the Water Gardens' dramatic 38-foot-deep architectural basin, reached visually by descending table-topped steps beside rushing water. Navigate to the exact Active Pool pin rather than the general Fort Worth Water Gardens marker. Swimming and wading are prohibited throughout the Water Gardens. The Active Pool approach is steep, wet, noisy, and visually disorienting for some visitors; use the upper viewpoints if stairs, balance, spray, or close supervision are concerns, and never cross barriers or enter the water.

The park does not advertise a dedicated free visitor lot. Use a signed downtown garage, paid lot, or legal metered space near Commerce Street, or arrive via Fort Worth Central or T&P transit stations and walk. The Active Pool follows the Water Gardens' daily 6:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. schedule unless maintenance, weather, a permitted event, or a safety closure restricts access.

Do not assume restrooms are open for an ordinary walk-in visit. The City lists restroom access as an added amenity for approved reservations, so use a nearby public facility before entering if restroom access is essential.

General admission to Fort Worth Water Gardens and viewing the Active Pool are free; permitted private events and nearby parking can cost separately.

Level plaza areas provide views of several features, and the City offers accessibility accommodations on request. The Active Pool's descent uses steep table-topped stairs and is not an appropriate route for every visitor; enjoy it from upper viewpoints when needed.

Fort Worth requires a dog away from its owner's property to remain accompanied and on a leash. The Water Gardens is not a dog park, and its deep pools, spray, narrow ledges, and steep Active Pool stairs make close control essential. Keep pets on designated dry walkways, never allow them into any fountain or pool, remove waste, and follow event or lawn restrictions. Separately operated buildings, beaches, gardens, and attractions can set stricter rules.
