Sunset Bay

Sunset Bay is a west-side shoreline gathering and bird-watching area with nearby parking, benches, and heavy evening use.

Choose a named destination before driving. Lots are distributed around the lake near Winfrey Point, Bath House Cultural Center, Sunset Bay, the dog park, spillway, piers, and other trail access points.

Open daily 6:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m.; individual facilities, rentals, concessions, and events use separate schedules.

Restrooms, portalets, fountains, and parking are available at selected nodes rather than continuously around the loop; consult the interactive park map.

General park, parking, trail, picnic, fishing, playground, birding, and open-space access are free; rentals, reservations, concessions, Dallas Arboretum, and events may charge.

Major lots, cultural facilities, paved approaches, and portions of the loop support accessible visits, but grades, older surfaces, grass, shoreline, and construction vary.

Leashed dogs may use ordinary areas; the separate fenced dog park has large- and small-dog spaces. Keep pets out of unsafe water and protect paws from heat.

Playgrounds, short trail segments, piers, picnics, birds, boats, and the cultural center work for families; the full loop is long and the lake is not a swimming destination.

Special events, construction, dredging work, wildlife protections, heat, storms, and water conditions can change road, trail, playground, or shoreline access.

DART connections and neighborhood routes can reach portions of the lake, but access varies widely by destination. Plan the exact trailhead and return route.
