Trinity River Audubon Center

Closed Monday; generally 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and Sunday, and 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Saturday. Rental days may close interior exhibits at 2:00 p.m. while trails remain open.

Use the gated on-site lot at 6500 Great Trinity Forest Way, also searchable as 6500 South Loop 12. The vehicle gate closes with the center, so return before closing.

Check in at the visitor center before using trails. Large groups over 15 should coordinate in advance because camps, field trips, and rentals affect capacity.

Restrooms and water are centered at the visitor building; carry water on trails and do not expect facilities at every overlook.

Admission and ticket requirements can change. Reserve or confirm current general-admission tickets and program fees before driving to the gated site.

The center has accessible architecture and trail options, but natural routes include heat, mud, uneven surfaces, seasonal water, and wildlife habitat.

Pets are prohibited; approved service animals are permitted under center policy. This protects wildlife and other visitors.

Short trails, ponds, birds, hands-on exhibits, and seasonal programs work well for families. The center expects an adult-to-child ratio of at least 1:6 for groups.

This is primarily a driving destination south of downtown. Verify rideshare pickup and return timing because the gate closes at the end of operating hours.

Reserve or confirm admission, check rental closures and weather, bring water, and leave trails before the gate locks. Trails close for unsafe mud, flooding, storms, heat, maintenance, or habitat protection.

Check Dallas's hourly heat index, lightning, severe-storm and heavy-rain alerts, flash-flood risk, air quality, and current facility notices. Pavement, play equipment, rock, and exposed trails become dangerously hot, while low trails and creeks may flood quickly.
