Radnor Lake State Natural Area

Natural-area gates and trails follow posted daylight-based hours. The visitor center, aviary, ranger programs, and road access use shorter schedules and can close independently.

Parking is limited at both Otter Creek Road ends and fills early on pleasant weekends. Do not park illegally on shoulders or block gates; arrive early or choose another time.

Choose the west side for the visitor center and many trail connections or the east side for alternate lake and ridge access. Otter Creek Road through the natural area is reserved for pedestrians during normal operation.

The most dependable restrooms are near staffed visitor facilities during posted hours; ridge and lake trails have no facilities.

General natural-area access, trails, wildlife viewing, and many ranger programs are free; donations and selected programs may apply.

Visitor facilities and portions of Otter Creek Road offer smoother access, but natural trails include roots, rocks, stairs, steep grades, mud, and narrow sections.

Pets are not allowed on Radnor Lake trails or in the natural area except qualifying service animals. Choose a different park for dog walking.

Short lake views, wildlife, ranger programs, and the aviary can work well for prepared families. Trails are not playgrounds; keep children quiet, close, hydrated, and on route.

Direct public transit is limited. Verify the complete final approach before relying on transit or rideshare, and arrange a pickup where service is dependable.

This is a wildlife sanctuary, not a general recreation park: no jogging, biking, pets, picnicking, fishing, boating, or leaving marked routes. Check parking, weather, trail closures, and visitor-center hours.

Check the Nashville forecast for thunderstorms, heat or air-quality alerts, wind, flooding, ice, and current operator notices. Water features, natural trails, river access, events, concessions, and outdoor attractions can close independently as conditions change.
