Fort Negley Walking Trail

The roughly half-mile park walking trail remains the principal outdoor route during construction, with temporary approaches and work-zone boundaries.

Parking is very limited during the 2026 master-plan construction. Carpool when possible and follow temporary signs for the active entrance and work zones.

Park open dawn to dusk. Visitor Center: Tuesday-Friday noon-4:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; closed Sunday and Monday.

Restrooms are available inside the Visitor Center only during its posted hours; the outdoor park remains open when the building is closed.

Park trail, overlooks, outdoor interpretation, Visitor Center exhibits, and films are free. Special programs or private events may differ.

Paved interpretive routes were designed for broad access, but active construction, hill grades, temporary entrances, and the closed fort structure affect the current visit.

Leashed dogs are welcome on open outdoor paths. Keep pets out of the Visitor Center, construction zones, fragile stonework, and posted restricted areas.

The short trail, skyline view, exhibits, 20-minute film, and outdoor panels can support a focused history visit; supervise around grades, work vehicles, and historic masonry.

The site is near downtown but separated by major roads and grades. Verify WeGo, walking, or rideshare routing to the current entrance rather than navigating only to the old stadium lot.
