Terrace Park has two accessible picnic shelters with electricity: the 25-by-40-foot West Shelter and 20-by-30-foot Upper Shelter. Trees also shade portions of the Japanese Gardens, walking routes, and picnic landscape, while ballfields, playgrounds, lake edges, and the aquatic-center deck can be exposed. Shelter reservations may control group use, and neither shelter is safe in severe lightning or wind; use an open substantial building or enclosed vehicle during dangerous weather.

Treat Terrace Park as an ordinary on-leash park, not an off-leash dog park. Keep dogs controlled and out of the Japanese Garden water, aquatic center, playground equipment, and any signed restricted area, and remove waste. Sioux Falls lists its designated off-leash facilities separately; a special advertised dog-swim event at the aquatic center does not create everyday off-leash or pool access.

Terrace Park Family Aquatic Center is a separately controlled seasonal facility at 1001 West Madison Street. It has lifeguarded outdoor pools, zero-depth entry with children's play features, four drop slides, and body and tube slides; it is more than a free splash pad. Admission, capacity, weather closures, and swim hours apply, and general park hours do not guarantee pool access. Check the Sioux Falls app or aquatic-center page for same-day status before traveling.

Sioux Area Metro Route 6 on North Prairie Avenue serves Terrace Park and connects with the downtown terminal. The park spans the Japanese Gardens, Covell Lake, aquatic center, ballfields, playground, and upper shelters, so use SAM's current map to select the stop nearest your destination and allow for slopes between levels. Verify live service before leaving because route names, frequencies, and on-demand options can change under the current network.
