Mt. Tabor Park

The park is open 5:00 a.m.-11:59 p.m.; vehicle access is 5:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. Roads close to motor vehicles all day Wednesday and from 10:00 p.m.-5:00 a.m. otherwise.

Lots and street parking serve different elevations. A summit lot has one designated van space, but Wednesdays require walking or rolling uphill from an open perimeter entrance.

Use SE 60th and Salmon for the main vehicle approach, then choose summit, reservoir, playground, amphitheater, dog area, or garden before parking. Internal roads and stairs create substantial elevation changes.

An accessible restroom is available at the summit, with additional seasonal or event facilities possible. Do not assume every picnic, trail, reservoir, or playground zone has a nearby open restroom.

General park access, trails, viewpoints, playground, courts, and ordinary picnics are free. Reservations, programs, concessions, and special events may charge.

The park lists accessible picnic, play, and summit-restroom facilities. The paved route to play has a moderate slope, while forest trails, stairs, and the summit climb vary greatly.

A designated off-leash area is available; dogs must be leashed elsewhere and are prohibited inside the amphitheater on concert days.

The playground, reservoirs, summit views, lawns, picnics, and short trails suit many ages, but steep grades and traffic on vehicle-open days require planning.

Bus, biking, walking, rideshare, and driving reach the surrounding neighborhood. Expect an uphill walk from transit or perimeter streets and verify current route service.

The picnic shelter is being rebuilt May-August 2026, closing the shelter site and two nearby paths. Wednesdays are car-free, and events such as the PDX Adult Soapbox Derby can close roads and fill the park.

Check Portland's hourly rain and temperature, heat or smoke advisories, wind, lightning, ice, river conditions, trail closures, and current park notices. Forested trails can remain muddy or hazardous after storms, while open lawns, summits, fountains, and riverfront areas have different exposure.
