High Point Overlook

High Point Overlook is a specific landmark within Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area; use this mapped point for the shortest practical approach and follow edge or crossing warnings.

Parking is distributed among one-way Scenic Drive pullouts. Calico lots fill first; once you pass a stop you must continue around the 13-mile loop. Red Rock Overlook outside the fee drive is free but also fills.

The Scenic Drive is open 6:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. April through September, 6:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. in March and October, and 6:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. November through February. Gates close at the posted time. This stop is reached from the one-way Scenic Drive and closes with its gate; seasonal timed entry applies October 1-May 31 from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Restrooms and water are most dependable at the visitor center, with vault toilets at selected trailheads. Do not assume every overlook or trailhead has water.

The Scenic Drive fee is $20 per private vehicle, $10 per motorcycle or $5 per pedestrian/bicycle, separate from any required timed-entry reservation service fee. Federal recreation passes are accepted under current BLM rules.

The visitor center and major overlooks provide accessible routes and parking. Natural trails range from short hard-surface approaches to rock scrambling; match the specific trail to mobility needs.

Leashed dogs are permitted in many outdoor areas but heat, sharp rock and wildlife make summer outings hazardous. Dogs are not appropriate inside buildings except qualified service animals.

The visitor center, Calico overlooks and short walks work well for families. Trails quickly become exposed and rugged; carry water for every person and never leave children or pets in a vehicle.

Public transportation does not reach Red Rock Canyon. BLM opened a designated rideshare drop-off and pickup area in 2026, but cellular service and return availability can still be uncertain and the 13-mile Scenic Drive remains one-way and dispersed.
